Free Superfoods List to print and keep!

This list can form the basis for your shopping list and weekly menus and new healthy eating habits.

When people ask about nutrition, I don’t believe there is a ‘one size fits all’ answer, however there are a few ‘one size fits most’ principles that can form the basis for people to explore for themselves.

In general, most western peoples nutrition would be improved by;

Eating mindfully and chewing carefully – A lot of times people eat while doing other activities such as watching television, talking on the phone, walking, driving etc. At these times people tend to gulp rather than chew which slows down and impedes healthy digestion. Being Physically active while eating also delays the body from digesting, causing putrification and digestive disorders.

Eating more raw fruit and vegetables- Eating live food feeds live cells for obtaining life force and nutrients. It makes sense, if most of your fruit and vegetable intake is in the form of processed foods, such as tinned and frozen, they no longer have the full bounty of nutrients that nature intended.You can eat plenty of food, but still be deficient in nutrient if the vitamins and enzymes are processed out of them.

Eat more organic food – A lot of the poisons used to grow conventional food does not just wash off. A lot of it is absorbed through the foliage and roots, and becomes systemic.These are chemical incecticides, fungicides and fertilisers, and if you look up the ingredients and their toxicology, I believe most people wold consider organic food to be a cheap investment for their health compared to the complications and diseases caused by chemical ingestion.

1. The lungs contain over 300,000 million capillaries (tiny blood vessels). If they were laid end to end, they would stretch 2400km (1500 miles).

2. Human bone is as strong as granite in supporting weight. A block of bone the size of a matchbox can support 9 tonnes – that is four times as much as concrete can support.

3. The focusing muscles of the eyes move around 100,000 times a day. To give your leg muscles the same workout, you would need to walk 80km (50 miles) every day.

4. A single human blood cell takes only 60 seconds to make a complete circuit of the body.

5. The brain doesn’t feel pain: Even though the brain processes pain signals, the brain itself does not actually feel pain.

6. Your brain has huge oxygen needs: Your brain requires 20 percent of the oxygen and calories your body needs — even though your brain only makes up two percent of your total body weight.

7. You get a new stomach lining every three to four days. The mucus-like cells lining the walls of the stomach would soon dissolve due to the strong digestive acids in your stomach if they weren’t constantly replaced. Those with ulcers know how painful it can be when stomach acid takes its toll on the lining of your stomach.

8. Scientists have counted over 500 different liver functions. You may not think much about your liver except after a long night of drinking, but the liver is one of the body’s hardest working, largest and busiest organs. Some of the functions your liver performs are: production of bile, decomposition of red blood cells, plasma protein synthesis, and detoxification.

Just take a moment to reflect on the awesome responsability & funciton of your nervous-system and body.
